SAGU Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Jayapura, Papua. We were established on January 17, 2015. Our service focus is on Human Resource Development and Research in Papua.
SAGU stands for “Strengthening, Assisting, Generating, Utilizing.”
The Background
“SAGU” is an acronym for “Strengthening, Assisting, Generating, Utilizing”.
Sagu (sago, Metroxylon sp.) is the staple food of the Papuan people and holds deep cultural significance in Papuan society.
Sago symbolizes the “mama”, the one who gives birth to and nurtures the children of Papua.
